The strong demand of the automotive and other markets drives Ascend Performance Materials in expanding the nylon 6,6 compounding capacity at one of its U.S production points.
Ascend, based in Houston, will establish a twin screw extrusion production line in its plant located in Alabama, in the first half of 2017. In an interview during the K Show on 20th October, 2016, Vikram Gopal, the Vice President of Technology of Ascend, stated that the newly added production capacity will fulfill the customer demands of automotive, electronic, electric and consumer sectors. He added that Ascend also has been steadily increasing the production capacity of Vydyne nylon 6,6 resin plants in Florida.
“Automobile is an important market to us,” said Gopal, “There is a high demand for nylon 6,6 in different applications, such as cooling loops.” In that application, expected temperature range will increase from 115oC – 125 oC to a 120 oC-132 oC.
Ascend employs more than 3000 worldwide. New York private investment firm SK Capital Partners acquired Ascend on 2009.
