On October 19th, Solvay announced that a polyamide composite plant would be constructed in San Louis, Mexico, with an expected annual output of ten thousand metric tonnes, and would be in service by the third quarter of 2017.
The new plant would service the Mexican and American automotive and consumer market. Mexico is the second large commercial and private automotive producer in the whole American continent, ranked 7th in the world. According to the OICA’s statistics, the annual automotive production capacity of Mexico is about 3.5 million in 2015. In addition to that, Mexico is also a hub for enterprises producing a variety of consumer goods and electrical equipment.
