It is reported that as new health and environmental laws and regulations are continuously enacted home and abroad, the flame retardant chemical market in China is to witness a significant reform.
Reports said that the sales in China’s market broke through RMB 6.7 billion (around USD$ 1.1 billion) last year.
Most flame retardants are supplied to the plastic and chemical product industries. They are extensively added in PE, PP, PU and flexible PVC and mainly used as the thermoplastics for vehicle plastics, PCBs and TV sets.
The research company predicts that the demands for phosphor base and inorganic flame retardants will increase and halogen flame retardants which had found wide applications over the decades will lose the market under increasingly stringent review of health and environment. The EU has prohibited or limited the use of brominated flame retardants, which is the main type of halogen base flame retardants. Since last year, Kaiser Permanente, a giant in the medical care consortium in the U.S.A. ceased to purchase all furniture which contains flame retardants.
The report forecasts that the ineffective law enforcement and supervision in China means a slow pace to transfer from halogen flame retardants.
