Belgian chemicals and pharmaceuticals group Solvay recently announced that they would invest approximately 3 million yuan to establish an innovative research center in Singapore.
This 1100 square meters innovative research center will be located in Biopolis. It mainly support Novecare’s, a Solvay subsidiary, R & D projects in the areas of home and personal care, coating, oil, and natural gas, etc. The center also hosts a professional team dedicated to enhanced oil recovery (EOR). It will also be Solvay’s regional center in developing sustainable solutions on agricultural business.
The innovative research center is a new investment project. Last year, Solvay invested 50 million yuan to set up a new plant in Jurong Island to produce important raw materials needed for household goods. The new plant is expected to put into production by the first quarter of 2015.
Solvay plans to increase investment to 8 million yuan in the next five years to enhance the research and development capabilities.
