Sumimoto Bakelite announced the launch of the ultrafast curing phenolic resin molding material, SUMIKONPM-5310. When compared to conventional molding materials, its curing time has been reduced by more than 50%.
This newly launched product, based on the chemistry platform of Novolac phenolic resin and reinforced by glass fiber, not only features a significantly reduced curing time, but offers superior performance in characteristics, such as mechanical properties and heat resistance, highly valued by the automotive industry.
This new product, in a standard thickness, has a less than half curing time compared to conventional materials. Furthermore, when compared to fiber glass reinforced PPS resin molded products (PPG-GF), the product has about the same curing time for a thickness of 5mm; however, it cures in half the time of the PPG-GF for a thickness of 10mm.
SUMIKON PM-5310 exhibits excellent performance when cured inside the tooling, showing stable hardness in finished products and a high dimensional accuracy. Such functional improvements will bring great market potential for phenolic resin.
